Milestones for Internal Medicine Residency Training

The Internal Medicine Milestone Group invites residency program faculty, coordinators, medical team members, and any other stakeholders of the quality of care and education in internal medicine, including patients and members of the public, to comment on the draft milestones. (Please note that internal medicine program directors will be contacted directly and asked to comment using a different survey.)  

The draft milestones provide specific behavioral descriptions of the ACGME’s six domains of general competencies within a developmental framework. It is anticipated that the milestones will be incorporated into residency programs’ educational curriculum as a framework for resident evaluation.  The milestones were developed by a 33-member task force (the Internal Medicine Milestone Group) convened by the ACGME and American Board of Internal Medicine.
