Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP is the chief executive officer of the ACGME.
Dr. Nasca, a board-certified internist and nephrologist, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1971, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1975. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief medical residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, and his nephrology fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University School of Medicine. He was on the faculty of Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh for 11 years, serving as chairman and residency program director for the department of medicine. He joined Jefferson Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 1992 as vice chairman of the department of medicine, where he directed the undergraduate and graduate medical education programs of the department. He was dean of Jefferson Medical College from 2001 to 2007, and also held the positions of senior vice president for academic affairs of Thomas Jefferson University and president of Jefferson University Physicians.
